Beaufort MK61 Armoured Capable Lifejacket

The Beaufort MK61 lifejacket (life preserver) is a sleeveless garment, consisting of a waistcoat with detachable floatation assembly. The lifejacket has been designed for use by front Aircrew members of attack helicopters, which require a low-profile pouch.

The waistcoat has a fixed rear armour pocket and a detachable front armour pocket. Detachable front a rear armour plates and soft armour packs may be fitted to these pockets to provide added protection to the wearer.

An airframe attachment strop and quick release system may be fitted to the neck section of the waistcoat.

For operations over land, the detachable floatation assembly may be removed and the PLB aerial routed into a modular ariel sleeve that can be attached to the waistcoat.

The waistcoat has a range of modular pockets that can be attached to the waistcoat in various configurations to suit the role of the wearer. The pockets are provided for the stowage of various survival aids to assist in the location and rescue of the wearer and can easily be removed and reattached several times.
